Short Film - (very) Rough Blocking

Here's a rough blocking pass on the short film I am working on as my final project. Still need to tweak some camera positions a tiny bit, especially the cut from where he's pushing the dresser to hiding behind it. The sound effects and dialogue are all temp and will probably be changed down the road. Mucho work to be done, but this is the general idea and direction I'm going for. Check out the link below.

During this class it's gonna be all about animation, so expect the same wonderful playblast quality with the same stark, minimalist set design at least until I'm done with this term. These next couple of weeks I'll be taking this up to blocking plus and will post a progress update then. Hope you enjoy it!

Touch-screen tech

A fellow classmate at AM found this video (thanks for sharing the link Ryan!). We've all seen touch screen technology in form or another so nothing special there right? Check this video out, it's a demo of a multi-touch driven computer screen. Pretty amazing stuff!

Sarah's (awesome) Sketches

During our first QA, Matthew mentioned a friend's site we should check out and checked it out I did. It's filled to the brim with awesome, awesome work. I especially like the Dragon Girl series she has going on there. It has a nice, ongoing story with great artwork to boot. Check out the links below:

My computer died...slowly

So last night, a couple of hours before my first QA for class 6 w/ Matthew Russell (who rocks by the way), my computer finally bid farewell to this plane of existence. It's served me well for the last 4 or so years. It was a slow and painful death as I squeezed all the performance I could from it and delayed the inevitable for a few more weeks. Hope it enjoys a place where all good computers go when they're work is done (after I gut it of the useful parts).

I ended up getting an HP computer from your friendly, not-so-close-but-not-too-far, neighborhood retailer. I would have built one up if it wasn't for the time constraints. Assignment deadlines are approaching and having spent the first part of my week attempting open-heart surgery on my now defunct pc, time was not on my side and I needed something working and now. It has pretty decent specs so it should hold up just fine.

Cool web comic

Ran across this link on CGTalk. It's a pretty cool set of online comic strips. The one linked below is awesomely touching, especially the last frame. Click the link below to check it out.

Hangin' out with friends

Just got back from checking out an improv show at Bang with a bunch of friends from AM. I'd never been to an improv show before so it was all new to me. One word - HILARIOUS! An AM classmate was peforming tonight as well and he did a really good job up there (keep rockin' it Brad!). Definitely something I'd be willing to check out again. It was awesome hanging out with everybody again and meeting some new people.

Here's a pic of the good times:

Solo Dialogue Test

Here's a quick 5 sec diag test I did earlier today. I planned it out during my lunch hour and threw it in Maya when I got home from work. It's still in the blocking stages, but any comments would be great! Share 'em of you got 'em!! :)
